SPAG Asia to manage PR for India announcement for hosting FIFA under 17 World Cup

India will be hosting the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017, the first time the country will do do for a major global football tournament. PR firm SPAG Asia has been hired, following a multi -agency pitch, to handle the project.

SPAG Asia's manadate from  the Local Organising Committee (LOC), an organisation within the All India Football Federation (AIFF) is to  plan and implement an end-to-end PR campaign to announce India taking over the mantle of the first global football sports tournament in India.

Commenting on this development, Joy Bhattacharjya, project director at LOC FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 said, “This landmark tournament is set to ring in a football revolution in the country. It becomes imperative for us to reach out to every fan, aspiring player, marketer and enthusiast and keep them informed about this amazing opportunity. SPAG Asia’s new-age creative approach and enterprising team offered the best fit to amplify the communication requirements of this project.”

While IPL and cricket still remains firmly at the centre of India's sports priorities; recent successes with hockey leagues and a strong interest in football with an exisiting base of local football clubs, have certainly opened up the sports market.
