Dr. Lavanya Wadgaonkar named Nissan's First Indian CCO, Leading Global Communications

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. in mid-March announced senior management appointments as it prepares to implement its next midterm plan in the upcoming financial year. These appointments are aimed at accelerating the company’s electrification and go-to-market strategies and ensuring long-term sustainable growth. 

As part of the appointment roster, Nissan Motor Company has promoted Dr. Lavanya Wadgaonkar to the post of corporate vice president & chief communications officer, effective April 1, 2024.

Wadgaonkar told PRmoment India that, "I am delighted to be appointed CCO for Nissan. We are at a vital juncture in the company’s global journey, and I am excited to be part of everything that is happening. My priorities as CCO are to create a future-ready communications team, champion DEI, look at the implications of AI-enabled applications on the future of auto and communications, prepare the company for the various risks we face each year and highlight how truly inclusive and global Nissan is."

She added, "We are confident our employees will lead the next phase of our culture transformation exercise which we will showcase very soon. Nissan is fully geared to collaborate and navigate the challenges of a new world order that presents us communicators with new challenges. I am grateful for the faith and support that the management has placed in my abilities having served Nissan for the last decade across multiple geographies."

Dr. Wadgaonkar will oversee Nissan’s communications activities in Japan and globally. She will report directly to Makoto Uchida, President & CEO of Nissan Motor Company.

In this role, she will oversee all of Nissan’s communications activities in Japan and globally, aiming at elevating trust and reputation at a critical juncture as Nissan launches The Arc, its new business plan to drive value and strengthen competitiveness. She will also continue in her role as the global champion for DEI responsible for actively promoting a diverse, supportive, and inclusive workplace.

Dr. Wadgaonkar has more than 28 years of experience in strategic communications, public affairs, brand management, marketing and sustainability. She joined Nissan in 2012, where she worked as the vice president – corporate communications & CSR for 4 years.
